Has life thrown you for a bit of loop recently? Maybe that recent break up has left you reeling. Or this recent move has been hard. Grief can come in many forms, a big move, birth of a baby, an end of a friendship, or death of a loved one. Loss is some of life’s toughest stuff. Feeling alone in this world can be pretty scary. Lets work towards a way for you to find yourself again. I have lots of coping skills in my pocket to share with you.
My Background and Approach
I have had the honor of working with folks struggling with depression, anxiety and trauma for ten years. I’ve heard many stories and I want to hear yours! I utilize psychodynamic and attachment theory in my work. What does that mean?! In our time together I will be asking questions, using our relationship as well as using the here and now to facilitate insight into the patterns of living that each of us finds ourselves in. Also we will walk through how some of the ways you grew up have an impact on how things look for you today. I also work to contribute coping skills to manage difficult feelings. Things you can use in the moment alone or with others that can provide some relief.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone (even therapists!) in life could benefit from therapy from time to time. I guess I come from a pretty biased position on that one! But as a therapist, I believe it is important to examine our personal beliefs and values, as they often come from some pretty hidden places that we are not even aware of. This can often can mean examining the impact and our role in systems of white supremacy, patriarchy and ableism. As white heterosexual cisgender woman I come to this work with some education but also with a learners mindset.
