About My Clients
While I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients, I especially enjoy working with: those who’ve never tried therapy before, those who haven’t “clicked” with therapists in the past, people with chronic and/or rare medical conditions, and folks who have felt poorly served by the medical or mental health communities.
My Background and Approach
My approach is a combination of “patient-centered” and “integrative.” That means that I’ll center you and your unique situation as we work to get you where you want to go. One of my key goals is to help clients reduce their distress and increase coping skills. That looks differently for everyone. For some, that involves a new issue in their life. For others, it may mean grappling with longstanding thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that they want to change. My psychodynamic training means that I’ll be especially attuned to how your past is affecting you in the present day, and how it might influence your future. I consider attachment style, your place within your family of origin, intersectional cultural issues, trauma, and existing strengths as some of the starting points for understanding how we can help you pursue your goals.
