Clinical Psychologist in Black Earth, WI
I have extensive experience working with people with anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety/worry. I use methods from CBT, including exposure therapy and cognitive restructuring.
The majority of my clients come to me to work on OCD concerns. I utilize exposure and response prevention (ERP), as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strategies to increase self-compassion. Many of my clients struggle with harm, sexual, religious, or relationship obsessions. However, I work with clients with any OCD symptoms.
With trauma, I tend to use prolonged exposure therapy, as well as cognitive strategies and self-compassion. I've worked with military veterans, as well as clients with physical and sexual abuse histories.
I have utilized exposure therapy for my entire career. I've worked in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential settings providing exposure therapy for OCD and anxiety disorder.
As an adjunct to exposure therapy, I often utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I find the mindfulness and acceptance pieces of ACT to be particularly helpful in treating OCD and anxiety disorders. I also find focusing on values can be beneficial to increasing motivation.
