My Background and Approach
I am trained in clinical mental health counseling and art therapy. I encourage a foundation of acceptance & self-compassion, providing space for all parts to be discovered and expressed so that healing can occur. I will meet you where you’re at and adjust my approach to support your needs, values, and cultural background. I offer guidance in working with dreams and active imagination for those wanting to explore the depths in this way. I enjoy supporting clients to get unstuck, develop self-love and confidence, to live the life they want want to live. Some things are difficult or impossible to put into words. art therapy can be used to explore and express non-verbally—no artistic ability or experience is needed. I am trained in EMDR, a therapeutic approach that can be used to heal trauma and requires less talking. I offer further sliding scale options at my practice at Dream Big Wellness: https://www.dreambigwellness.org/
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I got into counseling because I have experienced first hand the healing effects of therapy. I believe in and am passionate about personal growth and see that as a lifelong journey. I care about people and I approach all my clients with respect for their own values, culture, needs, and autonomy. I believe addressing my own biases and cultural education is life-long work that I am committed to making. I have practiced yoga, meditation, and dream-work, for 25+ years and this informs my practice and has enhanced my ability to be present and hold a compassionate and non-judgmental space for clients.
