About My Clients

Much of my client base are members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have extensive experience working with kids (3+), adolescents and young adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidality. I care deeply about providing support to those folkx out there who are being challenged by what life is handing to them, and no longer want to do the work alone.

My Background and Approach

I am a White, Queer, nonbinary, neurodivergent, ~mostly~ able-bodied individual. My identities impact the way that I show up in the therapy space whether I like it or not, and I believe the best way to start a relationship is to share who I am, authentically and vulnerably. As a social worker, I see every person through an intersectional lens, and as the center of a web of systems. My journey over the past 12 years has included working in wilderness therapy, and experiential and Montessori education. Through these experiences, I have witnessed the healing power of relationship, and have built an eclectic skillset that I bring into the therapy space. I draw from relational-cultural theory, empowerment theory, queer theory and others, and work from a strengths-based, person-centered and trauma-informed approach. I bring CBT, DBT, MI, narrative and other more clinical approaches to the room, but I also love to play, laugh and be mindful to grow and heal in relationship.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that most of the ways we show up in the world that we or others believe are "abnormal" or "unhealthy" are responses to living in a world that doesn't prioritize our needs. I truly believe that these adaptations are normal and valid, though they may not impact us positively in the long-run. We have the capacity to learn different ways of coping, and to grow to have compassion and love for ourselves and others. In my mind, building relationships is the greatest way to do this, and just in that first moment of reaching out to a therapist and prioritizing your own journey, you are making a statement that you matter and that you can shift your way of being in relationship to someone new. I am not that right person for everyone, but I'm so glad you are starting that journey for yourself.
