Each person's experience of loss is unique. There is no "right" way to grieve, however it can feel overwhelming and isolating to navigate this journey. My hope is to support you in creating a safe space to experience your grief in a healing way, and to support you in whatever healing looks like for you. It often feels like we are told to move past, or get over our loss. The real work is perhaps to find a way to transform our lives to hold space for our loss in a sustainable way.
Anxiety can show up differently throughout our lives. Life transitions, age, stress, specific events can all impact it's intensity. Sometimes we don't immediately recognize the part our anxiety is playing in our life challenges. I believe that it is important to understand the shape and nature of your anxiety, and to learn specific techniques that support you in moving through it when it gets in your way, as well as to build compassion for yourself and your experience of anxiety.
Changes in family and relationships, moves, job or health changes, death of a loved one, and other life events can be difficult times of transition, leaving us feeling unmoored, questioning things that once felt certain. These can be painful times, and often also create opportunities for personal growth, a way to potentially move closer to your authentic self and hopes for your own life. I will support you in finding your strength and discovering your path forward.
I often work from an Internal Family Systems perspective. This really just means that I welcome all the contradictory parts of a person that may show up in navigating life's struggles. We work together to understand both the parts you know well and the parts that you might often try to avoid. Better understanding all the parts of yourself, and having compassion for them can be a powerful first step in healing, finding peace and a path forward.
I often work from an Emotion Focused Therapy perspective. Through this approach, we work together to deepen awareness of emotions, feelings and experiences that might be getting in your way, or making you feel stuck. Exploring these emotions in a safe space with deep compassion, can often be very meaningful and freeing, allowing for new insights and renewed sense of grounding, and peace in how you want to be in the world.
Issues in relationships with others can feel overwhelming. We can often feel stuck in emotional patterns and communication patterns. As an individual therapist, I work with you to connect to your own thoughts, feelings and needs and support you in making sense of, and moving toward growth and change in these dynamics.
