About My Clients
Welcome to my practice. I am so glad you are here! I offer in-person and teletherapy to individual adults who are facing a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues, and struggles with self-esteem. I often focus on supporting clients through life transitions such as those working through mid-life concerns, career and family changes, and transition to college. I also work with clients experiencing cancer diagnosis and survivorship and grief and loss.
My Background and Approach
I am a Professional Counselor Associate based in Portland, Oregon. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University. My training included work in community counseling and university counseling clinics, and I have served as an adult group facilitator supporting grieving families. I bring to this work a passion for providing a warm, accepting environment where I hope you will feel safe, seen and cared for. Some things you may be interested to know about me: I am an Oregon native who spent many years on the East Coast. I am a cancer survivor, and before I became a counselor, I had careers in international economic development and business & technology.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a counselor, I want you to feel safe, seen and heard, and to know I am curious about what it’s like to be you in the world. I strongly believe that you are the expert on you and that, once given a little time to breathe in a safe space, you will begin to connect to important parts of yourself that will enable you to heal and grow. I will be your partner in this process, helping you to gain fresh insight, feel self-compassion, and see your strengths. My counseling approach is rooted in person-centered, attachment-based therapy. I believe that an authentic, trusting relationship between counselor and client is the foundation for change and serves as a powerful launching pad for exploring specific therapeutic strategies and skills that best fit with your intentions, hopes and goals. I often incorporate emotion-focused therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy into my work and believe emotional awareness can spark insight and growth
