I specialize in reducing emotional reactivity and distress interfering with your daily life that is derived from early life experiences.
Marriage & Family Therapist in Burbank, CA
I utilize mindfulness based intervention throughout the therapeutic process to increase our affective window of tolerance, which means to improve our ability to cope with distress. Some mindfulness based interventions we can practice are grounding, focusing on our breath, utilizing our senses, meditations and guided visualizations which can and often reduce emotional distress.
EMDR therapy allows us to reprocess experiences that continue to negatively affect us today. We identify themes in our lives that we have had, negative core beliefs we have about ourselves or the world and memories associated with these beliefs. We then reprocess some of the past experiences to reduce the emotional distress we currently experience from the present day reinforcement of them.
DBT is focused on skills building in the following areas: mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness (getting our needs met) and distress tolerance.
