I am a multi modal Creative Arts Therapist looking to support folx of all experiences who want to do expressive and embodied work!
Creative Art Therapist in Brooklyn, NY
Whether or not your oppressed identities are related to your reasons for wanting therapy, they are an important part of one's identity. EVERY individual deserves affirming care that acknowledges the roles systems of oppression play in our daily lives. I understand that for our dreams of equality to ever be reached, we must first adamantly invest in equity. To that end, I offer a lower sliding scale to BIPOC folx, and am happy to make referrals to BIPOC practitioners as well.
While I have worked with a diverse array of populations, the bulk of my work has been with those who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community. As a self-identifying member of this community, supporting folx of LGBTQIA+ experience is of great importance to me. Whether you are looking for support around LGBTQIA+ specific issues or are simply looking for a therapist who "gets it" I've got you. No one should have to educate their therapist on how to support them, I am here to support YOU!
In addition to having worked with numerous clients, who have ADD & ADHD, I have several people close to me who hold one of these diagnoses. As these diagnoses become more and more common, I believe it is important to not overly identify with the label, and instead, focus on treating the presenting symptoms. ADD & ADHD have both overt and covert symptoms, the depth of my experience allows me to support folx in understanding all of the ways in which their diagnosis is impacting them.
When I decided to become a Creative Arts Therapist, I was not sure what modality to focus on. I decided to pursue Dance/Movement because I felt an urgency and curiosity about deepening my connection with my own physical body. As I have studied and practiced this work, I have been honored and humbled to witness and support folx in exploring and relishing in this connection. Our bodies hold so much feeling for us, but only when we are aware of its capacity and expansiveness can we utilize it.
