About My Clients
Whether you want to process a difficult experience & manage the impact of trauma on your life, learn how to cope with tough emotions, or make a meaningful career transition, we’ll work together to identify your strengths & find opportunities for growth to create lasting change in your life. At Fish Psychotherapy & Consulting, I aim to strike a balance between providing evidence-based therapies & culturally-based practices that I have special training in.
My Background and Approach
My passion to support others as they navigate life’s ups & downs has led me to seek out different opportunities to help me become a well-rounded therapist. I have over ten years of experience providing therapy to clients from diverse cultural backgrounds who have various mental health goals. While I consider myself a general practitioner, I have specialized training in trauma-focused therapy, emotion regulation, & career counseling. My goal as a therapist is to provide you a safe yet encouraging space to share about your experiences & how they’ve affected you. After we’ve developed a strong & trusting relationship, therapy will focus on supporting you process your emotions. You’ll gain valuable skills & knowledge to help you regain control of your life, including identifying triggers & engaging in positive coping skills. I’m also passionate about helping people find a job that’s the best fit for them & will provide you tools to empower you to make choices about your career.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I deeply enjoy developing authentic and meaningful relationships with clients. To me, it’s one of the most important parts of therapy (and most rewarding). I genuinely care about who you are and what matters to you. My focus on identity, strengths, and empowerment comes from my professional training as a counseling psychologist and my upbringing. I’m originally from the Tuscarora Nation of Western New York. I was born and raised on our reservation. I come from humble beginnings and am proud of my family’s working class roots. I know first-hand how important it is for people to take the time to learn about your experiences from your perspective. In addition to using evidence-based therapies, I use culturally-based practices in my private practice. I have specialized training in multicultural counseling and decolonized approaches to therapy. I strongly value clients’ cultural and individual diversity in our work together.
