About My Clients
It seems like the gut reaction to loss and pain is to stay away from it. And rightly so! It hurts! But right now something is screaming inside that says it's time to face it. The overwhelming emotions; hopeless, helpless, broken, confused, empty, and lonely all seem to have been close acquaintances at some point or another, but now they are shouting. Sure there are people around but they don't get it and it feels like too much of a burden to share with them. There is a place for all of this.
My Background and Approach
Research shows that while no one approach to counseling is superior to another, we all tend to have our preferences. My preference happens to be in the humanistic approaching that focus on healing coming from within however my experience is that it doesn't come from within, but it comes from community. Mental health seeks to isolate us and in the context of community is where healing comes.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I've always had an ear for listening to people but after a difficult time in life almost 10 years ago I sought my own therapy and started the journey to become a professional listener. While I've been a professing Christian nearly my whole life I have also been intrigued by psychology so when I found a program that combined the two in best practices of both biblical faith and psychology I knew I was in the right place.
