About My Clients
The ideal psychiatric client for me is someone who recognizes the importance of seeking professional help for their mental health challenges. This individual demonstrates a willingness to actively engage in their own healing journey. They may struggle with various conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sleep disorders, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, neurocognitive disorders, psychosis and may also require emotional support animal assessments or pre-surgical psychological/psychiatric evals.
My Background and Approach
I am Queen Idowu, ANP-BC & PMHNP-BC, a highly skilled healthcare professional with a deep commitment to providing comprehensive care to individuals with complex medical and psychiatric conditions. With over 13 years of experience in the medical and psychiatric field, I have honed my skills in treating a diverse range of patients. My passion for healthcare and helping others led me to pursue dual certifications in adult-gerontology and lifespan psychiatric mental health. This unique combination of certifications equips me with a deep understanding of both the physical and mental aspects of health, allowing me to offer a holistic approach to patient care. I am dedicated to providing comprehensive care, tailoring medication management to each individual's unique needs. My commitment to holistic well-being ensures that patients receive not only effective treatment but also the understanding and support necessary for their journey to mental health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, my core values and beliefs drive my approach to mental healthcare. With years of experience advocating for and treating victims of human trafficking & volunteering globally to establish free clinics in underserved regions, my commitment to healing extends beyond the confines of a traditional clinic. Understanding the complexities faced by immigrants as a 1st-generation child of immigrant parents, I empathize with the mental health challenges that can arise when navigating a new country. I strive to provide culturally sensitive and compassionate care to individuals from diverse backgrounds, recognizing that mental health stress can be a significant aspect of their journey. In my practice, I firmly believe in a holistic approach to treatment, combining therapy with medication management. My philosophy emphasizes using the lowest effective dose of medication, prioritizing non-pharmacological interventions when possible.
