My Approach to Helping
Does it feel challenging to advocate for yourself, or to voice your needs/desires? Maybe you’re even thinking: “What are my needs or desires?” Does people-pleasing show up when you’re anxious or unsure? Maybe you consider yourself a helper (socially or vocationally!), or maybe you just haven’t had the time or space to consider yourself, your thoughts, or your feelings. My passion lies in sitting with you through your current challenges, centering your lived experiences, and building your toolbox for honoring and moving through your emotions. You deserve kindness, warmth, and a loving relationship with yourself. I utilize somatic resources and nervous system psychoeducation to deepen your relationship with Self. Somatic practices help us build further understanding and awareness of our bodies and nervous system. If we can build familiarity with how emotions show up for you, we can better understand your unique coping needs and resources.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
You are the expert of your lived experiences and intuition. Ethical counseling is non-pathological and radically accepting. My role as your counselor is a tool for insight and information, facilitator of reflection, self-validation, self-affirmation, and untangling what you were taught is yours and what you choose to keep or release. I enjoy working with both adults and teens (over the age of 14). I strive to create a safe, supportive space where teens and adults alike can explore who they are, who they are becoming, and who they would like to be. I am open, fluid, flexible, and radically transparent in my work, as I understand your trust is something to be earned.
