About My Clients
I help LGBTQ+ and ENM/polyamorous adults heal from social anxiety, sexual trauma, and relationship stressors. My clients come to me feeling scared and confused trying to understand their sexual and romantic identity. They feel lonely but still desire community. They feel frustrated that unprocessed relational trauma is getting in the way of accessing intimacy and connection with others or their partner(s). They want to feel seen and validated in all of their nuances and identities.
My Background and Approach
I work using a relational, trauma-informed, liberation-focused lens. I use techniques such as EMDR, CBT, and Narrative therapy to tailor my approach for each individual client based on their needs, experiences, and values. Using these methods, I support my clients heal from their painful past experiences while building skills to navigate stressful moments in the present. For couples or relationship therapy I use a combination of emotion-focused approaches and concrete communication interventions to support relationships that are navigating stressors related to non-monogamy or polyamory. My clients learn to identify their needs and desires and how to communicate them to others in the pursuit of living a calm, authentic life. I’ve been honored to witness the vulnerability and depth of my clients inner worlds throughout my years of working with sexual trauma survivors, queer and trans folks, and people exploring ethical non-monogamy or other diverse relationship styles.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you are worthy of love, pleasure, and community. I believe that life does not always has to be the way that it is right now. I believe that we can release shame when we share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding. I believe that psychological pain is not an individual failing and often originates from the environment in which we exist. Our environments inevitably include the systems of oppression such as racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, and xenophobia. Therapy must acknowledge and honor your intersections. I humbly commit to providing trans-affirming, queer-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, anti-racist, and culturally-sensitive care. I believe that as your therapist, I am not a “blank slate.” I will bring my genuine personality and perspective to our work while prioritizing your goals and wellness.
