My Background and Approach

Much of the process of therapy – even meeting a therapist for the first time – can feel overwhelming. This is a process, and it isn't perfect. It's a place to be human, real – to connect again, in little bits, first with self and then with others. Safety comes first – learning techniques to regulate your nervous system in session and out. Culture in the therapy room includes attunement and alliance, relaxation versus pressure, curiosity versus judgment, experimentation that leads to revelation. Together, we are studying the ways in which you organize your self, making use of whatever windows lead to your core beliefs – the beliefs that influence your every word and motion. We can't undo the past. We can change beliefs formed by past experience – a process that leads to integration and a core sense of stability in your own skin. [Note: No immediate sessions. WAIT LIST ONLY. Some slots reserved for couples, so shorter waits.]

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Following a dual degree in psychology and social science and then receipt of my Masters in Counseling from Lewis & Clark in 2012, I went on to complete specialized trainings including Trauma Work and Hakomi Body-based Psychotherapy. My focus on complex trauma applies to a broad range of issues. Many clients find reduced internal conflict, reconnection with parts of self, and a new capacity to receive and take in 'missing experience'. This often facilitates subtle character change: moving from rigid/automatic reactivity to compassionate and mindful response to self and to others.
