About My Clients
Chronic illness is one heck of a roller coaster. Often my clients don't realize how much they have adjusted their day to day life to manage their chronic illness. The additional practices, doctor appointments, diet considerations, life changes can catch up and while these practices help manage symptoms, it often leaves my clients exhausted and feeling alone.
My Background and Approach
My approach includes ACT, motivational interviewing techniques, and Somatic Experiencing techniques from a trauma-informed lens. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Somatic Experiencing is a nervous system and body-oriented approach to healing trauma and dysregulation within the body. I help you learn about your nervous system and teach you skills to build capacity to better navigate stress, illness related flare ups, and the challenges life throws at you without going into or getting stuck in a survival response. I have therapy experience in a variety of settings that includes college counseling, adolescent wilderness therapy, and community mental health. I have been in the mental health field for 8 years and working as a therapist for 4 years. I have lived experience with chronic illness, specifically CIRS as a result of mold toxicity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and other environmental allergies and sensitivities.
