My Background and Approach
Hi, my name is Ron Cummings. I decided to become a therapist after dealing with panic disorder in my own life. For a while, I also had agoraphobia and was afraid to leave my house out of fear and anxiety over having a panic attack. This also led me to depression over thinking I might never be able to leave my home again and live normally. However, through cognitive behavioral therapy, I was able to recover, return to college, and obtain a teaching credential. Through the years, I have discovered that life does not always provide us a smoothly paved road. I experienced many things that tempted me to give up, but I was able to make it through these things due to the support of others and through therapy. This is the reason that I am a therapist – to help others receive the help they need. My main therapy approaches include CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Positive Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people have abilities and strengths. All people are valuable just because they are human. While we are alive we can strive to have a positive impact on those around us. I associate with and will accept anyone even if I disagree with their views. I see life as an adventure to teach us how to overcome obstacles and help others as well.
