About My Clients
I serve clients from 13 years and up. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I also have a desire to help those with the disease of addiction. I appreciate that the client is the expert on themselves and that I play the part of curious helper learning about clients and helping them connect the dots and find solutions. I have worked extensively with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. I welcome the opportunity to help you find a better way forward.
My Background and Approach
The guiding principle to my work with others is that you are the expert on you and my job is to give you fresh ways of looking at situations, help you figure out solutions, and help make new ways of living endure. No matter the challenge - mental health, substance use, relationships, transitions, trauma, or a combination of them I work with you to navigate a positive way forward. Leveraging your strengths and guided by your values we work together toward getting you living in concert with your values. The tools I use include CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy. I am strengths focused and believe your cup is half full! My heart lies with those in marginalized communities, LGBTQ, communities of color, seniors, & children from 12 years of age.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a unique background for two different groups that I provide services to. The LGBTQ+ community is near and dear to my heart. I am a happily married gay man and I understand the challenges that my community faces. I also have been in recovery for more than 14 years and this past difficulty has actually given me great empathy for those battling addictions.
