About My Clients
I have extensive experience in working with adults who have cognitive difficulties due to brain related injuries/diseases. I also specialize in working with military veterans struggling with the transition to civilian life. I enjoy supporting clients struggling to cope within a high-stress profession as well as caregivers struggling with regaining a sense of self outside of the caregiver role.
My Background and Approach
Starting therapy for the first time or finding a new therapist can feel overwhelming due to the unknown process. I will walk you through step by step and provide a comfortable therapeutic environment. Your goals will be the focus of treatment. My experience in traumatic brain injury research provides me with a unique insight into how a head injury can impact daily life and functioning. I will take cognitive performance into account when considering the most appropriate treatment approach. I work with military veterans to identify the values that they possessed while in the military and support them in identifying how those values translate to civilian life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is my treatment of choice for those with anxiety and depression so that you can start to take control over your thoughts and actions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I personally believe that we can all evolve from our past experiences so that we are better equipped to handle future challenges and live a more fulfilling life. Although it may not be possible to completely eliminate every single negative thought or feeling, I will support you in learning from your past experiences and focus on post-traumatic growth for those with post-traumatic stress symptoms.
