About My Clients
My clients are usually adult women with or without their partners who have experienced a history of childhood trauma. This trauma history usually impacts them negatively in their day to day lives in one or more ways such as, but not limited to: frequent arguments with others, isolation from others, feeling the need to be "perfect," unexplained exhaustion/fatigue, sinking or failing grades, emotional outbursts, high levels of anger, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and risk taking.
My Background and Approach
I help clients bring awareness to their thoughts and feelings so that they can better choose their actions. My clients find that when they understand their motivations for their behavior, they will be more empowered to make choices that truly benefit them. Our brain is a very smart computer, and it does what it is trained to do - not necessarily what our conscious mind wants it to do. Our patterns of behavior are deeply ingrained in us because our brains were taught and currently believe, that they are serving us in the best way possible. We will work together to understand the origins of your beliefs about yourself and the world, and change those that are no longer working. Therapies and techniques that emphasize the mind-body connection are ones that I find are particularly effective.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Here are a few fun facts about me: *I have a chinchilla, a beagle, and two cats. They all have names based on either an inside joke or a book character. They are all super loving and I love laying around with any one of them as a pillow and a good book. *I am married to a man and we want biological and adopted children. *I went on Semester at Sea in college back when they did extensive voyages beyond what they do now. I visited ten different countries in under three months, and it was a blast. I want to see as much of the world as I can.
