Licensed Clinical Social Worker in San Diego, CA
I take a holistic approach to managing stress and living mindfully as to not get caught up in the daily chaos of modern day living. We will work on identifying stressors and incorporating healthy habits such as meditation, exercise, journaling, and nature into your life. I am open to discussing the role spirituality and your beliefs play in your life.
I am an expert in attachment theory and apply that to my work with clients struggling in relationships. I will work with you on identifying your needs in relationships, assertive communication, boundaries, and overcoming underlying core issues that keep you from truly feeling seen and valued in relationships. My clients experience more self confidence and more fulfilling relationship after working with me.
I apply the science and intuitive knowledge that we all hold about intergenerational trauma when working with individuals. We all have lineage and ancestors that experienced oppression, war, abuse, displacement, and other traumatic events. We now know that these experiences are coded in our DNA and can effect our nervous systems. I am comfortable with applying this knowledge to therapy sessions and discovering how clients can heal themselves as well as the ancestral trauma they carry.
Attachment theory is focused on the relationships and bonds between people, particularly long-term relationships, including those between a parent and child and between romantic partners. My background is in human development which focuses heavily on childhood attachment. I have taken that experience and applied it to my current client work while continuing to study and research current attachment information.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain, and has shown to be effective in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies. I am a trained EMDR therapist.
I use motivational interviewing with people who are struggling to commit to a decision and move forward. Motivational interviewing is highly effective when used for treating addiction and making difficult choices that are out of your comfort zone. I use this method in a supportive way and have demonstrated a lot of success with clients in their lives.
