About My Clients
I work with a wide range of individuals from many different walks of life. What many of my patients have in common is courageousness in the face of adversity and a desire to have the fullness and richness of their experience recognized. My patients believe in a shared contribution to the therapeutic process, and that sometimes laughter truly is the best medicine.
My Background and Approach
I am a clinical psychologist and lifelong New Yorker who specializes in helping clients navigate life transitions. I have worked as a therapist in a variety of settings and with many different populations, all across the lifespan. Working with such diverse groups of people, experiencing such varied symptoms and challenges, has led me to believe that no two therapy cases are alike, and that successful therapy requires an individualized approach. My therapeutic work is rooted in psychodynamic theory, particularly attachment theory. However, I have training in many different psychological paradigms including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I incorporate many of these techniques in my work. I earned my PhD in psychology from Long Island University – Brooklyn, after attaining my MA from George Washington University and my BA from American University.
