About My Clients
If you ever struggle to get "unstuck," replay patterns that you seem unable to shake, worry that feeling "normal" is out of reach, or are just unsure how to manage all that life throws at you, I want you to know that meaningful and lastly change is possible. Holistic and evidence-based practices with a skilled and compassionate therapist as your guide can significantly reduce the negative impact trauma has on people's lives. I am here to help.
My Background and Approach
As a clinician who has worked in many different settings, I have honed my work on what seems to help clients the most and I am excited to share this with you. I truly believe that you are the expert on you and I aim to guide and support you to find workable tools for relief and to pave the way for deeper, more meaningful work. With significant training and experience using EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Therapy, we will establish attainable goals and create real change. We will help identify the connection between mind and body, grow insight, learn about the self as an all encompassing, healing resource, and identify practical tools to help your system to regulate. With these tools, I will help guide you on your healing journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I truly hold the clients I work with in unconditional positive regard. I believe that the adversity we've faced does not define us; we are not the negative messages replaying in our minds, we are not the traumas passed down from generations before us, we are not the discrimination, neglect, or abuse we've faced, AND we all have the capacity to grow and to heal. I, too, have faced some of these adversities and through my own work in therapy and my work with others, know that healing is possible. As a social worker, I tend to believe in the good in people and regard myself a "hope merchant." I do not discriminate against anyone and look to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. I currently live near Harper's Ferry, WV but am a Marylander at heart. When not working, spending time with my family, or learning new things, I enjoy spending time with my nature-based spiritual practices. I also like crochet, cooking, creative writing, and hosting monthly moon circles to engage community.
