About My Clients
Trauma leaves its mark – on our hearts, our minds, and our connections. It tells us lies such as, "I am not good enough" and "they don't like me," and often shows up as anxiety. But healing is possible. In fact, the mind and body are healing machines. My goal is to empower you to heal the root cause of your compulsive thoughts/behaviors; to look beneath the soil, rather than just clip the leaves.
My Background and Approach
Wouldn't it be great to turn that inner, critical voice into your biggest supporter, and to have a kinder relationship with yourself? To experience some ease, even joy? To help you to achieve this, I tap into my extensive training as a somatic therapist, while drawing on my own transformational healing experiences. I have had success with clients who had plentiful experience in therapy without achieving their goals. Whether or not you wish to work with me, I highly encourage you to try somatic therapy if you have the opportunity. As well a somatic experiential therapy (SomEx), I am trained in Brainspotting (similar to EMDR), recovery coaching, and Trauma Informed Care. I combine attachment theory with emotional regulation theory and take an experiential approach, for I believe that we learn through experience, rather than from being told what to do. You are not what you have done, and I aspire to co-create an environment of acceptance, non-judgment, and compassion.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am British-American. I have lived in five countries across three continents. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in journalism and marketing. While studying attachment theory, I worked as a volunteer caregiver to Cambodian children living on the Thai island of Koh Chang. I continue to support the school and visit multiple times per year. I have also worked as a recovery coach. I am systemic in my approach, always seeking to understand people in the context of their environments, cultures, and family backgrounds. I have experience of treating multigenerational trauma and enjoy doing Family of Origin and inner child work with clients. My hobbies include travel, meditation, cooking, baking, volunteering, exercise, and watching sports.
