Life is full of transitions and the uncertainty that can arise when change occurs. Sometimes we may feel especially vulnerable in theses transitions and even notice old emotional patterns emerging. Although this is completely normal, having a space to process and find new ways of coping can be highly needed. I am passionate about helping others navigate and feel less alone during stressful life transitions.

Going through traumatic experiences can make you feel out of control of everything: your thoughts, emotions, reactions, and behavior. We can feel confused and afraid to tell our stories. This often leads to feelings of helpless, isolation, and shame. Through competent trauma therapy, you can gain the support and strategies you need to manage overwhelming emotions & sensations and create a sense of safety in your body again.

Experiencing anxiety is a normal part of being a human being. However, if you find that your life is consistently disrupted by uncontrollable worry, constantly feeling on edge, trouble sleeping, scattered thoughts, and even panic attacks, your anxiety may feel like it has taken over your life. I specialize in treating unmanageable anxiety by providing the skills necessary to understand anxiety and deal with those pesky anxiety symptoms.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) pays special attention to building skills to understand our emotional experience better. Instead of suppressing or avoiding our emotions (which usually makes them more intense and persistent!), we can learn to listen to the messages they are trying to give us about our needs and how to get them met. EFT can also help change negative relationship patterns. I have been trained and supervised in EFT and am currently in the process of getting advanced training.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focused on how our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviors. Often we have negative thought patterns that can increase our anxious or depressive thoughts. The focus of CBT is to understand and change these thought patterns to be more adaptable and realistic. I have advanced training in CBT and use various CBT skills in my practice as appropriate.

Trauma focused therapy helps us navigate our lives after a traumatic event or understand how chronic trauma has impacted how we function in the world. I have training with multiple populations to help client develop skills to regulate the body's nature response, understand intense emotional responses, & change difficult relational patterns. When doing trauma therapy, I work collaboratively with my clients at their own pace to help them heal and regain direction in their lives.
