About My Clients
Are you feeling stuck? Perhaps you are struggling to strengthen your relationships or accomplish your goals. You should be proud of yourself for taking the first step in taking control of your life and considering therapy. I enjoy supporting folks experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidality, PTSD, and low self-esteem. I also have extensive experience working with survivors of intimate partner or sexual violence; and supporting individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community.
My Background and Approach
While I have 4+ years of experience working in mental health spaces, I am currently under supervision to receive my LCSW. I have previously worked as an Emergency Medical Technician before switching to Social Work. I decided that I was much better at talking to people than I was at treating them medically, so I went to social work school and have never looked back. My previous social work experience has been working with survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence, in the hospital and emergency shelter settings. I have also spent 2+ years providing crisis mental health interventions. I am very comfortable working with individuals who are suicidal and treating the underlying causes of this symptom.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that my clients are the experts of their own experience and should be in control of every aspect of their therapy experience. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I find great joy in working with other queer and trans individuals and supporting them through related issues. My therapeutic practice is informed by many different modalities in order to best serve the individual I am working with. Those modalities include, but are not limited to, DBT, CBT, MI, and IFS. First and foremost, I strive to practice from a client-focused, racial-justice-informed, and trauma-informed perspective.
