About My Clients
Sometimes life can become overwhelming and it"s good to have an unbiased 3rd party to talk with. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety or depression so severe, that it gets in between their family, friends, jobs and interests. I want to help you over come these problems, so that you can begin to live the life that you want. Regardless if the problem is recent or longstanding, I want you to know that there is hope.
My Background and Approach
I obtained my graduate degree In social work from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1985. I have worked in many diverse settings such as foster care, a children's residential program and with adults in an outpatient community mental health setting. I have worked with all ages on such issues as anxiety, depression, loss, family conflict, trauma and self abusive behavior. I believe that the client-therapist relationship is the key to effective therapy. I strive to provide a safe, supportive and understanding atmosphere. While I have been trained in such techniques as Brief Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy and Motivational interviewing, I do not subscribe to a one size fits all approach. I use a holistic approach and focus on the body, mind, spirit and the individual's environment. Therapy can be brief or longer depending on what you feel that you need. I also offer teletherapy over the phone or a on line platform.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was drawn to this field due to a desire to help others. My mother said that as a young boy, I hated to see people fight and that I was the one who got them to make up. I am truly honored when a client comes to me for help. I love watching people grow, change and begin to believe in themselves. I was raised with a strong spiritual base that guides me. I do not force my beliefs on others, but I will offer them when asked about them. My wife and I are a mixed faith marriage that has last 38 years. We are both confirmed animal lovers with our dogs and cats.
