Holistic trauma recovery and somatic therapy for life's tough moments
Licensed Professional Counselor in Bellaire, TX
I've had training and experience working with passed-down family of origin trauma that can create chronic anxiety, depression, anger, and in some cases C-PTSD (Complex post-traumatic stress disorder). By identifying the traumas and using somatic healing, you can be the one to break the cycle and live a better life.
Depression is the body's way of letting you know that you're dealing with something that is heavy and your resources are tapped out, thus the low energy, low motivation, and foggy brain feeling. In taking time with what you're carrying, and using present-moment awareness to work through it, you can feel more alive and passionate about life.
Anxiety is the body's natural alert system letting you know it's detecting threat. When you've had experiences that you couldn't process or that have left an impact on you, the alert system can go into overdrive and cause a lot of distress. By identifying your anxiety triggers and learning to ground yourself, you can start to feel more in control of your life.
Somatic therapy is the healing part of therapy. It uses the body's natural drive to process through traumatic and painful experiences.
Psychodynamic therapy helps to identify where you're struggling. It can help you see yourself and those around you more clearly to promote self-awareness.
Gestalt therapy brings both psychodynamic therapy and somatic therapy together, acting as the bridge to the present-moment. While somatic therapy is the healing part of therapy, the present-moment is where the healing happens.
