About My Clients
I specialize in working with AAPI/BIPOC youth and adults who are ready to unpack their “Pandora’s box” and finally tell their unique story in order to learn from previous experiences, let go of messages and patterns that no longer serve them, and then reconstruct a multicultural identity and life that feels more aligned to the future they want for themselves. I also provide trans-affirming therapy for the LGBTQIA+ and gender non-conforming community.
My Background and Approach
"I won't give you a fish, I'll teach you HOW to fish" so that eventually you won't need me anymore. I will be your guide towards your own personal clarity. I will be your biggest cheerleader as I model and help you celebrate all parts of yourself (the good, the bad, and the ugly). I use a slower, deeper, and gentler approach to therapy. I utilize a holistic approach that includes emotionally-focused work that helps clients learn how to fully experience, express, and resource their emotions as a strength instead of a weakness. I also help build mind-body connections that get you out of your overthinking, worrying mind and back into the balance of your body. We can address any past (generational, cultural, childhood) trauma or historical ruptures that may still show up in your present life, identify and celebrate strengths you already have, and then find ways you can achieve your goals more effectively, safely, and joyfully.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a 1.5 gen Fil-Am woman who has taken on caretaking roles all her life, who was a burntout perfectionist and self-abandoning people-pleaser, and who has had to learn the hard way how to fully acculturate and find pride, freedom, love, and creativity as a multicultural being - I get it. I began this work because it was so difficult for me to find my own therapist who understood the intersectionality of being a 1st/2nd gen AAPI/BIPOC, and I wish I had the emotional support of a securely-attached adult who could help me through the confusion and hurt of generational, cultural, and family conflict growing up. In addition to my advocacy for AAPI/BIPOC mental health, I am an absolute supporter of the LGBTQIA+ and gender-nonconforming community.
