About My Clients

I work with clients who may be struggling with feelings of guilt, shame, resentment, burnout, anxiety, "stuck-ness" or ambivalence, not being enough/good enough, or vulnerability. In addition, I enjoy working with teens and adults on issues related to perfectionism, people-pleasing, codependency, relationship dynamics, sports performance, and sports injury.

My Background and Approach

It's important to me to tailor my approach to what each individual client needs. Because of this, I enjoy collaborating with you to determine treatment goals that reflect your goals and values. In general, my approach is integrative, holistic, and relational. I believe that your past experiences and relationships deeply impact you. Therefore, sessions involve exploring your past, identifying patterns, and gaining insight and awareness into how this affects you now. It can also look like a more practical approach of learning and implementing skills to reduce symptoms and increase positive behaviors and feelings. My goal is to hold space for clients with empathy, genuineness, and authenticity in a way that both accepts clients as they are and encourages them to grow into more of who they hope to be.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I grew up in a very sports-oriented family, and I played basketball competitively for many years. There were times where I struggled with burnout and the overall stress of being a student athlete. Eventually, when I stopped playing, I had to figure out who I was outside of sports because up until that point, my identity was mostly performance driven. Poet Walt Whitman wrote, “I am large, I contain multitudes.” I love how this quote resonates with my personal experience within sports and how it’s true of all people. Humans are complex, and we are never defined by just one thing. I think some of our pain comes from getting stuck inside one identity, and we can honor ourselves by learning to hold space for all the different parts of us. My desire for clients is that they can learn to live more authentically and wholeheartedly with a greater capacity for joy, connection, hope, and resilience.
