About My Clients
At Resilience Lab my work encompasses a diverse range of clients. I support career-oriented, professionals with childhood trauma, relationship issues and life transitions. I am also skilled at assisting young adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, or adjustment issues. And I work with anyone drawn to a body-based therapy approach integrating yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork.
My Background and Approach
My approach is eclectic- relational, behavioral and somatic oriented. We’ll co-create a contained, gentle space with enough structure for us to develop trust and rapport. The first couple sessions help me understand what brought you to therapy and obtain information on your prior history in therapy. Sessions becomes more structured depending on your goals, and worksheets and homework assignments are used to deepen into the practice. I weave evidence-based therapies such as EFT, Motivational Interviewing, CBT and DBT, and psychodynamic approaches to help build awareness, increase desire for change, and interrupt unhelpful behavioral patterns. As a therapeutic yoga teacher, I incorporate Eastern body-based wisdom such as yoga, breathwork and mindfulness that help build self-confidence and connection with yourself. You will cultivate body awareness, create rituals for a balanced life, and reveal a new story that better serves you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years in the fields of community development, public health and behavioral health which has informed the lens of cultural humility, anti-oppression and social justice that I bring to my work. I am committed to living my healthiest life. The mind is not separate from the body or the spirit. To be mentally well, we need to reconnect to our whole selves. This includes engaging in intentional movement every day, eating seasonally and with my body’s rhythms, and creating sacred rituals out of daily practices. I also believe a big part of mental wellness is in connecting with community. That’s why I volunteer with Crisis Text, an online messaging platform that provides crisis support for people struggling with suicidal thoughts. As a way to help my community benefit from body-based practices, I also offer a donation/pay-what-you-can yoga class once a month in the Albany area.
