About My Clients
I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults facing issues in the areas of depression, anxiety, life transitions, family dynamics, and racial/cultural identity. As an immigrant myself, I particularly enjoy working with South Asian, BIPOC, and first-generation individuals and couples. I work well with clients who are committed to making meaningful change in their lives and strive to break the dysfunctional cycles keeping them stagnant.
My Background and Approach
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings and levels of care. I started off as a crisis advocate at a local rape crisis center, where I received specialized training in crisis intervention and working with survivors of assault and domestic violence. I was then able to work at a non-profit organization where I continued my work with survivors of violence, and high-risk youth and families. Later on, I transitioned into teen treatment and worked in multiple levels of care including residential, partial-hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment with teens and families. My style of therapy is eclectic or multimodal, so I will selectively use a combination of approaches to best fit your needs! We'll spend the first few sessions getting to know each other and setting some goals for therapy, and we'll revisit these goals as needed to help you get the most out of therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value honesty and authenticity, and these values are central to my therapeutic approach. My favorite thing about my work is developing and growing genuine connections with my clients, and I believe this is central to forming a strong therapeutic relationship that fosters positive change and growth. Being a person of color in the United States, I seek to understand and help navigate the cross-cultural dynamics that impact your life, and it's important for me to create an inclusive and non-oppressive environment that takes into account and respects intersectionality. You can expect a warm, judgment-free environment as well as tools to tackle behaviors and patterns that no longer serve you.
