About My Clients
I specialize in couples and families who feel disconnected due to polarizations in their characteristics, including trauma history, personal needs, and other lived experiences that give rise to misunderstandings in relationships. I help you find your way back to each other by creating a sacred space where compromise and collaboration thrive. I am looking forward to working with you to get your relationship where you want it to be!
My Background and Approach
Together, we will track your unique histories and viewpoints, develop a deep shared understanding of your pattern and each other, and learn the most effective, science-backed communication skills to move your relationship to a safe, intimate, life-enhancing bond. I am trained in cutting-edge and science-backed approaches, including Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). This means that my practice is backed by 50 years of research on the most effective communication skills to break relationships out of patterns of conflict and build connection. I balance these approaches with warmth and collaboration. Using a combination of concrete skills, emotion-focused techniques, and “cycle-breaking” activities, I help couples and families find a new way forward where all voices are heard and valued and healthy boundaries are co-created. We will do this work together, creating a safe space where you can show up exactly as you are and be accepted and known. Join me!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as spiritual, a pacifist, and progressive. While I identify as cisgender and heterosexual, I work to be an active LGBTQ+ ally in my community. I have done this by advocating for student’s correct pronoun use and name changes in public schools, donating to the Human Rights Campaign monthly, attending pride parades, and advocating for the construction of gender-neutral bathrooms for therapy clients on CSU’s campus. I engage in social justice work by working with various organizations supporting low-income families, especially related to food insecurity and trauma-informed teaching/mentorship. I am committed to continuous learning and advocacy related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially related to decreasing barriers to accessing high quality, holistic, trauma-informed, mental health care.
