About My Clients

Have your emotions or worries become unmanageable? Often my clients effectively managed low-level anxiety for years, but now irritability, worry, or sadness prevent them from living the life they envisioned. For my clients, because I specialize in perinatal mental health and parenting, this is often triggered by the transition to parenthood. Maybe how you were parented is influencing how you are parenting now and you seek to resolve these issues? Therapy can help you regain calm and confidence.

My Background and Approach

Central to working with me is authenticity. In many relationships, we feel like we can only be our partial selves. We hide the parts of ourselves that we think others will reject. Over time, this causes us to feel disconnected from ourselves and others. In therapy with me, I invite you to be your whole self. I provide practical tools based on your specific situation. There is no one-size-fits-all therapy solution. I promise to really listen to you and understand your experience. There are multiple ways to work on any one issue and I have the training and experience to know when to use which therapeutic approach, ensuring you achieve the growth you seek. In addition to my doctorate, I have advanced training in perinatal mental health. And, while I work with a variety of different life stages, I am particularly passionate about supporting parents because when a parent makes progress in therapy, the entire family benefits. Ph.D. Counseling Psychology, Boston College Licensed in HI & MD

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have my PhD in Counseling Psychology and MA in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. I am a licensed psychologist in Hawaii and Maryland. I, like many of my clients, grew up in a culture with high expectations. I appreciate how societal pressures obscure our own vision of ourselves. I see the role of systematic oppression on mental health and commit to helping you integrate your cultural backgrounds, identities, and values. I am a military spouse and parent of two. I enjoy paddling, crafting, and spending time with friends. Punkin, a registered therapy dog, is by my side for most sessions. My goal is for you to feel like you are talking to a close friend while trusting that I have the professional expertise to help you. When choosing a therapist, learning a little bit about them often helps clients determine if they are likely to connect and feel comfortable. If you sense we are a good fit, send me a message and we can set up a free initial phone call :)
