About My Clients
I have tailored my education specifically for working with couples and have a passion for helping people in love better express their feelings for one another. I also work with individuals and have a passion for helping clients contend with depression, anxiety, processing trauma, and the natural challenges of life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I believe that human beings are both wonderfully unique and mercifully similar to one another. We are connected to each other in our individuality through the commonality of what it means to be a person trying to live our best lives in a world full of uncertainty, pain, beauty, and love. My approach to therapy incorporates the uniqueness of each person’s individual life story, societal context, trauma, and inner strength, while also tapping into the wisdom of our shared humanity and the immense power of relationships and community. I strive to strike a balance between the uniqueness of self and the common nature of humankind through an organic, authentic approach that draws on evidence-based practices and tools while bearing in mind that any tool or idea only really works if it works for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A basic foundation of my approach is the belief that you are the expert on yourself. I will approach you with compassion, curiosity, and some expertise of my own, but healing and growth will ultimately come from within you and the relationships in your life. Counseling in my view is about understanding ourselves more wholly and with less judgment in order to live our lives with greater authenticity and love. I believe that every challenge is made easier when we choose to face it alongside someone else. It would be my honor to stand with you as you transform whatever is weighing you down into the steps leading to a better life.
