Hello! I have been a practicing therapist since 2017 and I am incredibly passionate about what I do!
Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Gig Harbor, WA
As a lifelong highly sensitive person [HSP] and licensed therapist, I deeply understand what it means to walk through the world experiencing it in a much more colorful, vibrant, and sometimes terrifyingly painful & intense way. I understand what it's like to feel misunderstood by those around you. You may have heard, "Why are you so sensitive?" or "You have no reason to feel that way." Let me tell you, there is a reason you feel like you do, and you're not broken or wrong.
My niche is in working with folks suffering with PTSD and C-PTSD. I am a survivor of C-PTSD and I have been trained in many different therapy interventions that are evidence-based and helpful to the range of symptoms that come with posttraumatic stress, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness training, and EMDR. I understand trauma and its impacts in detail and would like to help you gain greater understanding and new ways of coping.
With both lived experience and professional education and training, anxiety is another area of mental health which I understand in vivid detail. I am trained in many methods that are evidence-based for ameliorating anxiety symptoms, from mindfulness and guided imagery to grounding and somatic interventions, as well as cognitive-behavioral interventions. EMDR can also be helpful for anxiety by targeting the underlying negative beliefs that fuel and perpetuate feelings of fear and powerlessness.
I completed training in CBT in 2018. This method can be helpful to just about everyone as a general tool for identifying more of the ways that habitual thoughts patterns may be causing more harm than good in your life and learning ways to reframe those thoughts to more realistic, more helpful ones.
I was trained in EMDR through EMDR Consulting, an EMDRIA-approved organization, in early 2022. I am on track to become certified through EMDRIA.
I have completed certification level training in DBT and have experiences co-facilitating DBT skills groups. Although I do not participate in a full fidelity DBT program, I can help you learn evidence-based skills to increase your mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness (relational and communication skills).
