My Background and Approach
When making the decision to start therapy, I believe it needs to be a good fit. Life can be incredibly difficult and complicated, and sometimes you need that additional support to help cope with the challenges that life can bring. As your therapist, I will draw on various psychological approaches and interventions that will help you grow and thrive based on your personal needs. Each individual is different; therefore it takes an individual approach to work through life's challenges. I have worked extensively with people of various populations struggling with addiction, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, suicidal ideation, and many other behavioral and psychological issues. You are not your past. You are not your trauma. You are not your diagnosis. Together we will work towards a life of healing and resiliency. You CAN heal from past trauma in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I do not believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy. I believe that therapy is a collaborative experience between the therapist and the client. For that reason, I will work with you to develop the most effective approach for you, one that you can master and implement into your own life. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and you know what is right for you; I am here to help guide you towards a happier and healthier life. I am committed to the on-going work of anti-racism in my work, community, and country. We can and must do better. I understand the impact of systemic racism as a trauma that can affect both physical and mental health for people of color. I acknowledge as a white therapist, I have obtained unearned privilege and will commit to disrupting systemic racism and doing my own internal work as a white person. All lives cannot matter until black lives do. In addition to my anti-racism work, I am an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
