About My Clients
My clients are adults 18 years and older. They seek a compassionate sanctuary—a safe space where they can delve into their inner experiences, unlearn patterns that no longer serve them, and cultivate healthy, adaptive coping strategies. In this supportive environment, their feelings and experiences are deeply validated, yet they are gently encouraged to venture beyond familiar boundaries in order to foster meaningful growth and transformation.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychotherapist with over ten years of experience in the mental health field. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Asian Pacific American Studies from Michigan State University. Throughout my career, I have worked in outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, managed care, and clinical management, giving me a comprehensive understanding of various mental health issues with a specialty in trauma. My eclectic therapeutic style integrates evidence-based practices with psychodynamic approaches, emphasizing inner child healing while addressing present-day challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I founded my practice Han Psychotherapy in 2022 with a mission to provide compassionate, individualized mental health care. In Korean, the word “Han” carries a profound dual meaning that signifies both “one” and “deep sorrow”. This concept is central to my therapeutic philosophy, recognizing that trauma is not a universal experience but a deeply personal and complex journey. I take a collaborative and individualized approach to therapy that tailors to my client's needs. Everyone's journey of changing and healing is different, so I try to meet my client's where they are and walk alongside them.
