About My Clients
My clients are genuine humans. They walk into my office and expose vulnerable parts of themselves. The folks I work with are especially thoughtful and ready to dive in. They are usually looking for support and an alternative perspective, or approach, to their concerns. We connect together through open conversation, laughter, and sometimes even silence. If this sounds appealing to you, we would likely be a good fit.
My Background and Approach
You should reach out to me if you are feeling stuck, anxious, insecure, angry, or alone. I have a background in providing long term individual therapy, cultivated through years of experience and training. I have specialized training in harm reduction to treat substance use and sensorimotor psychotherapy to treat trauma/stress. My approach to therapy comes from a trauma-informed, attachment focused, feminist relational perspective. Essentially, what that means is, we are always collaborating. Building a strong relationship is foundational to any growth or change you will experience in therapy. If you are looking for a therapist who tells you what to do or gives you homework, I'm not the one for you. Rather, if you want someone who listens intently, challenges when the time is right, and works to really deeply understand and connect, then I'd be the perfect fit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Keeping in mind the stress associated with navigating social/cultural systems of oppression, I value the therapeutic relationship we develop. My goal is ensure that we create lasting change by addressing root causes of current concerns. I wholeheartedly believe in the inherent value of connection as a growth enhancing element. For that reason, I consistently strive to fully understand each client I work with. It is within the unique relationship that we develop where you can explore feelings, ask questions, share experiences, and celebrate successes.
