About My Clients
I have expertise in the areas of anxiety, depression, addiction, men's issues, career coaching, sports psych, couples/ family therapy, trauma and young adult mental health. I see a diverse group of clients, all of whom have unique concerns and strengths that we uncover and utilize in our work together. I see many individuals who have achieved great success in one area of their life, at the expense of their mental health, relationships or other important facets of their life.
My Background and Approach
For over 20 years, I've helped a diverse group of clients through challenging life events, mental health and addiction concerns and relationship challenges. I'm known for working with clients who are "stuck" and need new ideas on an old problem. Before starting with a new client, I take intentional steps, through an initial brief call, to make sure I’m the right person to assist them with their goals. I will, first, assess whether the issues you’re presenting with are within my scope of practice -this means 2 things. One, do I have the expertise and training necessary to help you and, two, can your issues be effectively addressed in a private practice setting? I also want you to speak with me for a few minutes to determine whether there is enough of a connection/ comfort to begin the therapy process. Ultimately, I care about you getting the best care for your situation, whether that's with me or another qualified provider.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The values most important to me in my work are: 1. Collaboration - You know yourself best and my goal is to partner with you to come up with solutions to your concerns. 2. Evidence-Based - You'll get the best care supported by research. We know a lot about what works and what doesn't work and I'll readily share that information with you. 3. Strengths-Focused - While you might come in with a specific problem area, I'm going to try and identify your strengths, use them to help us with your goals and develop them further. We will talk about the hard things, but I will also be focused on how to help you see yourself in a more positive light. 4. Acceptance - I know it's a big risk to seek out professional help from someone you don't know. Regardless of your presenting issues and how they show up, you will feel accepted in our work together.
