Not Accepting Clients

Through my travels & personal experiences in my own Queerness, I believe self-acceptance helps build a road to resilience and contentedness.

Licensed Master of Social Work in Albany, NY

About My Clients

I have experience working with folks in recovery, people living with HIV, on the spectrum, folks struggling with ADHD, Anxiety disorders, Bipolar disorders, Depressive disorders, and Schizophrenia to name a few. I have worked in acute psychiatric wards, detoxes, outpatient clinics, a harm reduction center and a needle exchange, Queer focused agencies, and private practice. I have been a group facilitator, couple’s therapist, but have mostly done individual therapy.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker working towards their clinical license. I graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2013 and have been doing clinical work since 2011 beginning as an intern. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing as my therapeutic approaches and they are the foundations in my work. I also enjoy learning and incorporating Internal Family Systems into therapy. Ultimately, I take an eclectic approach and utilize interventions that make sense for each session. You might find interventions from CBT, DBT, ACT, and Mindfulness techniques. I use these approaches and techniques to help facilitate change, build understanding of one’s experiences, or teach techniques to tolerate distress. Sometimes psychoeducational and normalization can go a long way into facilitating one’s own change.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a Trans, Genderfluid, Bisexual (please read the 1990 Bisexual manifesto) therapist that enjoys working with my community at any level. I have been an advocate, volunteer, a community member, an educator on various community panels, and have led workshops in various settings including one on gender models at Creating Change 2015. Since my graduation in 2013 from MSU Denver with my Master of Social Work degree, I have worked in community mental health, private practice, harm reduction, HIV care, substance use disorder treatment, and acute psychiatric care. My bread and butter is working with clients from the Queer community, providing space where one doesn't have to explain themselves and can explore who they are and how to flourish with life's ever changing sense of stability. In my spare time, I enjoy studying astrology, raising my twins, and cheering on my wife working on her doctorate.
