My niche is providing couples therapy to those 55+ but I'll never stop also offering EMDR and individual therapy for anxiety and depression.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon
I have a background in gerontological work and study. And I myself have begun aging so it is also a personal interest. Earlier in my career, I was the Social Services Director for a nursing home and I worked individually with patients as well as led a family support group and while there had ongoing training. I also had management positions as I worked in respite care with clients experiencing dementia and had training in that capacity. I was the co-chair for the Area Agency on Aging network.
I have years of experience and education concerning couples therapy with people wanting premarital counseling, marriage counseling and other people of various relationship constellations (not married and living together or multiple partners).
I find it a great joy to assist people suffering from PTSD because gaining healing from this disorder is a huge relief for folks. I have been offering EMDR since 2012. Please see my website for a brief description of EMDR.
My approach is warm, gentle but on point. I love being present with couples and relish not taking sides but allowing both parties to gain access to each other's point of view. My main approach comes from my Gottman training but other influences include: Burns, Prepare/Enrich, and Fruzetti (DBT).
I began my training in 2012 and have had ongoing classes as well as many local meetings of EMDR study groups. Since 2017, I have also been offering the Flash Technique and I find that it is magical and quite effective without being activating.
I have many years of experience and training in working with couples and those with multiple partners. I find that those I work with go on to experience harmony, satisfaction and even excitement in their lives.
Early on in my career I worked in several capacities such as being a Director of Social Services at a nursing home, and as a manager at a couple of respite care facilities. Also during that time I served as the Area Agency on Aging co-chair (a networking group in the Fresno area).
