About My Clients
My clients identify as members of the following communities and often come to therapy struggling with anxiety, depression, and a history of trauma: kink/BDSM, LGBTQA+, and those practicing or interested in ethical non-monogamy/polyamory. I think of psychotherapy as a necessary form of social activism toward a larger goal of equity for people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, levels of ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Background and Approach
I have been practicing client-centered, depth, narrative, and somatic psychotherapy for eight years and have a Master's Degree in clinical psychology, with a concentration in community mental health, from the California Institute of Integral Studies. My passion is working with under-served populations. I utilize somatic interventions in combination with mindfulness to aid clients in building emotional awareness and intelligence. I've found that a focus on emotions in therapy can offer relief and resilience to persons with a wide range of symptoms and diagnosis.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a background in visual art, improv, and theater, all of which led me to become a psychotherapist and all of which inform my work in every way. I believe with a bit of curiosity and a lot of creativity you can accomplish your goals and change your life for the better. I am personally multi-relational and practice consensual non-monogamy. I am also an atheist with education in buddhism and experience practicing vipassana meditation. In addition to being a cat parent, I also love to care for plants and spend as much time as possible in nature hiking, biking, camping, and exploring.
