My Personal Beliefs and Interests

“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” - Lilla Watson, Indigenous Australian artist, activist :: As a queer, non-binary person, I recognize that my liberation is bound up in the liberation of all oppressed people. As an artist, I seek to use my mediums to process my personal growth and create social change. As a white ethnic person, I recognize that I have work to do to ensure this reality. I am deeply involved in queer community and justice work in the East Bay through the Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective, Oakland LGBTQ+ Center and networks of queer and trans* healers, health and body workers. I am also involved in restorative justice and anti-racism work through the Center for Understanding in Conflict and school-based therapeutic work. My personal mindfulness and arts practices include singing, visual art, cooking, journaling and yoga.
