About My Clients
I specialize in working with the Latinx/e community, specifically as it relates to identity formation, being a first generation professional, disordered eating, negative body image, and low self-esteem.
My Background and Approach
I tend to describe myself as more of a non-traditional therapist. Yes, of course we will talk about feelings, but we will do it in a way the incorporates your personality. Sometimes talking about feelings is hard, so I try to ensure clients have different avenues of expression, through song lyrics, poems, art, movies, and more. If you want to get technical, I work through a feminist and person-centered lens, meaning that I take all sociocultural factors and intersecting identities into consideration when treating clients. Personally, I have struggled with disordered eating, panic attacks, grief, suicidality, sexual assault and more, and therefore have a special place in my heart for helping others heal these wounds as well. I will never assume to know what your experience has been, for I know each of us have such unique experiences. Your story is yours, and I am here to honor it. I hope to help you heal as you find your way back home to yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Through my many experiences of facing discrimination, I have found that the best approach for healing is through acceptance and love. Thus, I am a Health at Every Size®, fat positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and sex-positive clinician who welcomes all ages and genders.
