About My Clients

As a music therapist, I believe in the power of music, so if you love music, but have trouble opening up in a traditional talk therapy setting, I would love to connect with you! I work with clients who would like to find joy, fulfillment, a mindfulness practice, as well as a set of positive coping tools that last a lifetime. I specialize in adolescent and adult mental health, as well as providing LGBTQIA+ services, memory care and Autism spectrum care.

My Background and Approach

I am a Board-Certified Music Therapist, hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Music Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Toronto, Canada. So what is music therapy? Music therapy is an evidence based therapeutic practice of addressing a client’s psychosocial, emotional, spiritual and physical needs by a credentialed professional using music interventions. We all have that one song that hits us “right in the feels”, whether it’s comforting, joyful or sad. This is why we use client preferred music, since everyone is a unique human being with unique musical taste. We can use the piano, voice, ukulele, percussion, guitar, recorded music, and art materials in the music therapy sessions. A session can include active music making, music listening, art creation and discussion. You do not need any musical experience to engage in and benefit from music therapy!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone deserves to be heard. Your story matters, you matter, and your journey to healing matters. When I was 5, I asked my parents for piano lessons, and they replied: "Okay, but you'll have to become a pianist, then!" So I became a professional pianist, but something was missing. I realized that there was a way to combine my love of music with my own healing, and later, facilitate others' healing. I believe in a person-centered approach, with an emphasis on DBT and mindfulness skills.
