My Background and Approach
I have worked with victims of crime and those suffering with extreme trauma, grief and loss, and trauma from childhood and adulthood. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked with individuals with autism, ADHD, and various learning disorders. When trauma has been effectively processed, anxiety can be managed, and depression eliminated. This allows people to heal and encourages strengths to shine. Everybody brings something special to the table! I help my clients heal and find their authentic self so they can flourish and grow. I aim to create a trusting, empathic and warm therapeutic relationship to allow my clients the safety they need to process difficult feelings and experiences. I utilize an eclectic approach of client-centered, narrative, family systems, and attachment therapies. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to process traumatic experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every individual has gifts and talents to share and has the desire to become their best self. Situations that are beyond your control create challenges that affect every person differently. Each child in the same family may exhibit different personality traits and struggles based on the way the environment and experiences affected them personally. I believe my clients will develop resiliency and overcome obstacles as they become mentally healthy individuals.
