About My Clients

It is hard to be a friend to yourself right now, and you need some additional support. You may be struggling to manage intense emotions, which is causing behavioral, functional, or relational problems. Perhaps you are holding things together on the outside, but you're suffering from painful emotions on the inside. You may be unable to shake old feelings or beliefs about yourself, even though you know you have grown.

My Background and Approach

I will listen and help you reflect on and learn from your challenges. I will guide you to practice allowing your emotions, and increase your ability to process and cope with them, so you don't have to fear your experience. This work will empower you to move towards your goals, according to your values, as your authentic self. I have 16 years of post masters experience. I began my career with seven years as a high school Interventionist, then spent six years working at CU Boulder's counseling center. These fast paced and rigorous environments gave me extensive experience in a variety of clinical areas. In recent years, I moved into the private practice setting and began to focus on EMDR, building my experience and professional training. I can now be more effective with trauma and other deep rooted challenges.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Emotional pain results not from bad things happening to us, or from making bad choices, but from the rupture in the relationship with yourself that is a result of those events or choices. When we can't trust ourselves, or forgive ourselves, we feel tremendous emotional pain, and we struggle to live the life we want. Luckily, you can learn to better process and tolerate the emotions that are a natural part of life. You are not unique in your challenges, it is ok to have faults, and you are deserving of love and acceptance. Self compassion is the primary feature of a person who is mentally well, not a lack of symptoms. You can learn to be kind to yourself through everything, and that makes all the difference. I continually work to improve my awareness of systemic oppression and how it affects various groups, as well as how to support individuals in healing and embracing their own unique intersectional identities.
