About My Clients

I work with survivors of acute and complex trauma who tend to be perfectionists and struggle with self-criticalness. Generally, my clients are women and LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults. Many of my clients internalize the stigma and shame conditioned by our society's oppressive norms and politics. I help my clients find self-compassion, embrace their authenticity, and process their trauma from an intersectional, warm approach that always emphasizes fostering safety rather than "fixing."

My Background and Approach

I integrate a multicultural feminist approach with family systems therapy, existential therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, mindful self-compassion, and internal family systems. I also teach graduate psychology courses (Sex & Gender, Adolescent Therapy, Domestic Violence, Counseling Skills) at CLU in Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks, CA. Specialized training in: LGBTQ+ clients, trans & gender diverse communities, intersectionality in therapy, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices. Brainspotting Phase 1, IFS Level 1, 40-hour Sexual Assault Training, Somatic Embodiment Certification, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training, Anti-Racism YTT In-Progress Previous settings: rape crisis center, community counseling clinics, brain trauma center, schools, adolescent treatment center MS in Counseling Psychology from CLU. BA in Psychology from UCSB.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

- Compassion is needed to make our lives and our world a better place. - Therapy should be intersectionally-informed while understanding that every person has their unique experiences. - Your true self is so beautiful. Everyone deserves an unconditionally accepting space to be authentic and loved just as they are. - An effective therapist is willing to take a look at their own background and biases and be willing to grow. - Larger systemic change is needed to actually create healing and safety in our world. Advocacy outside of the therapy room is necessary. - Therapists need to learn about other cultures while understanding that they will never be experts on other cultures. - ALL bodies are beautiful. ALL gender is beautiful. ALL sexuality is beautiful. - Everyone should be able to live their lives the way they want without others marginalizing them. As long as there is no harm coming to vulnerable populations, let people be. - Let's lift up and learn from marginalized voices!!
