About My Clients

If you've found my page, you're probably feeling stuck, like nobody "gets it", or that things just aren't ever going to get better. Sound familiar? I am extremely passionate about helping people rediscover their strength and feel empowered after a life of feeling like they're in the background. Bring your pets, special interests, and dark humour, because therapy doesn't always need to be so serious. We'll work together to uncover forgotten wounds and stitch them back together.

My Background and Approach

My approach to therapy is relational, allowing for the therapeutic space to act as a reflection of how you interact with others in your life. It's a safe space for us to explore these interactions while gently challenging you to try new things and instill newfound confidence in yourself. We'll talk about the relationships you grew up with and who your primary caretakers were before finding connections between how you relate to the world and how you relate to yourself. I use psychodynamic and sensorimotor theories to integrate your body into the conversation as well - don't worry if this sounds a little scary! This just means we may work on some breathing techniques, body scans, and other movements to help you feel unstuck. It's amazing how much the body can hold that we're not even aware of!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we may not have had control over what happened to us as children, but we do have control over how we heal as adults. I think that everyone is capable of change and that we are all doing the best we can with the resources we have. I believe educating ourselves and expanding our awareness and empathy is the best way to begin bridging the gaps in our society. I am an active member of Texas SAIGE (Society for Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities), previously serving as Emerging Leader and currently as a Trustee for the Board. We attend Advocacy Days at the Texas State Capitol, where we talk with leadership and legislation about bills concerning LGBTQ+ citizens and advocate for changes in policies that positively enrich and protect these populations. I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association and regularly attend the Professional Growth Conferences to continue my education as well as connect and network with other counselors and clinicians.
