About My Clients
To dive right in, I place focus on the value of gaining self-awareness, and work to help you achieve that. I will offer you ideas to take from each session to continue to challenge your thinking between sessions. I have extensive experience in treating addiction, grief & loss, depression, anxiety, and marriage counseling. I find success practicing CBT & DBT therapy, which are types of therapy that focus on changing your behavior through analyzing your thoughts.
My Background and Approach
A little about me: I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been practicing as a Clinician for 10 years. I received my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College in Boston. Prior to this, I "temporarily" moved to Quincy, Massachusetts from a suburb outside of Philadelphia after my Father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that metastasized to his liver. I loved the city of Boston so much, I never went back. In 10 years, I have worked inpatient, outpatient, PHP, long term residential, you name it. I have resources in many levels of care if needed. I am also available as a clinical supervisor for LMHC students or professionals studying for their exam. Please inquire further if interested in this.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In May of 2004, I decided to put down heroin and crack cocaine for the last time and checked myself into my last treatment center. I was able to carry out my goal of placing focus on the addiction field for the bulk of my career path as a clinician, as well as in management of substance abuse treatment facilities. If you or your loved ones currently or previously suffered from addiction or alcoholism, I am not only clinically trained to help you through the healing process, I have experienced it first hand and walked through the pain with those closest to me. Despite all personal beliefs and experiences, I keep things professional based on clinical training, so all clients may endure the utmost therapeutic relationship that will serve as beneficial to client care. I am present to develop a treatment plan that will ensure that not only your mental health improves in therapy, but I am hopeful that we can work together to achieve your goals that brought you into therapy initially.
